Frederick, MD - Tuesday, January 10, 2012 - The Kristen Renee Foundation and Fighting for Frederick will attend the Fort Detrick RAB meeting on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 to make statement points on a critical issue as to why Arcadis contractors were not wearing protective gear when exposed to toxic vapors while drilling in the Area B, Superfund site, on November 16, 2011 and to further investigate the delay in reporting the toxic release incident to the public.

The following are news coverage excerpts from the November incident of toxic exposure at Area B: According to the Associated Press and Local News Channel 9, "Officials announced Saturday that workers were drilling in a section of the installation called Area B, which is contaminated with chemicals, as part of a groundwater contamination investigation when they noticed the odor Wednesday."

"Tests are being done after an odor was detected during drilling at Fort Detrick. It's concerning because the odor is coming from an area that's been contaminated with toxins. Contaminants were buried at the site when Fort Detrick's Biological Weapons program was ended in the 1970s. Robert Sperling with Fort Detrick said employees noticed the odor last Wednesday while they were installing a well. But that information wasn't released until Saturday morning."
